D\u2019abord sangl\u00e9, le monument a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re approfondie afin de comprendre les causes de sa fragilisation et de d\u00e9finir les moyens \u00e0 mettre en \u0153uvre afin de le conforter de mani\u00e8re p\u00e9renne. Au d\u00e9but d\u2019ann\u00e9e 2019, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cautionneusement d\u00e9mont\u00e9 et d\u00e9pos\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 pouvoir acc\u00e9der aux \u00e9l\u00e9ments qui le relient au pilier. Les travaux ont consist\u00e9 \u00e0 une reprise de la structure porteuse, pour assurer la stabilit\u00e9 et la p\u00e9rennit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u0153uvre, ainsi qu&rsquo;une restauration pour r\u00e9v\u00e9ler la qualit\u00e9 exceptionnelle du monument : nettoyage, mise en valeur des vestiges de la polychromie ancienne, restitution d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments disparus mais connus par la documentation (par ex., crosse de saint Claude), am\u00e9lioration de la lisibilit\u00e9 des inscriptions. D\u2019une dur\u00e9e de deux mois, les travaux financ\u00e9s par l\u2019\u00c9tat propri\u00e9taire de l\u2019\u00e9difice se sont \u00e9lev\u00e9s \u00e0 41 500 euros. L\u2019op\u00e9ration a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e avec le soutien du Conseil d\u00e9partemental de la Somme (Conservation des Antiquit\u00e9s et Objets d\u2019art).
