Son architecture est inspir\u00e9e des \u00c9glises Saint-Paul de Londres et Saint-Pierre de Rome dans un style classique. La Basilique se distingue des autres gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son d\u00f4me vertigineux construit dans une position d\u00e9centr\u00e9e, ce qui donne au b\u00e2timent un aspect unique. En 2020, un chantier de tr\u00e8s grande ampleur visant le couvert du d\u00f4me et le clos pour la restauration des vitraux et des fresques a d\u00e9but\u00e9. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de montage et d\u00e9montage d\u2019\u00e9chafaudage REATUB travaille depuis sa cr\u00e9ation avec LAYHER. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 exerce depuis 2007 dans les Hauts de France et a \u00e0 son actif le montage d\u2019\u00e9chafaudages de nombreuses \u00e9glises et cath\u00e9drales. Pour ce projet colossal, REATUB a investi 200 tonnes de mat\u00e9riel Layher UNIVERSEL. Une centaine d\u2019heures d\u2019\u00e9tudes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaire entre janvier 2020 et novembre 2020 afin de mettre en place une m\u00e9thodologie de montage permettant de r\u00e9aliser les diff\u00e9rentes op\u00e9rations des travaux tout en pr\u00e9servant l\u2019ouvrage. Ce sont 410 tonnes d\u2019\u00e9chafaudages de la gamme Layher Universel qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 install\u00e9es sur tout le pourtour du b\u00e2timent, sur une hauteur de 54 m jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la base du d\u00f4me ainsi que le pourtour du lanternon qui culmine \u00e0 82m. La structure m\u00e9tallique a \u00e9t\u00e9 pos\u00e9e par paliers successifs ; l\u2019\u00e9difice pr\u00e9sente des caract\u00e9ristiques architecturales ne permettant pas de monter l\u2019\u00e9chafaudage en une fois. REATUB a pr\u00e9vu des appuis s\u00e9curitaires sur certaines faces du b\u00e2timent avec une attention particuli\u00e8re sur le tambour, entre 30 et 42 m, dont les colonnes sont nettement fragilis\u00e9es.
