Le taux de renouvellement annuel du r\u00e9seau d\u2019eau potable en France est de 0,67 %, soit, en moyenne, un renouvellement tous les 160 ans, alors que la dur\u00e9e de vie d\u2019une canalisation est de l\u2019ordre de 80 ans. Le rendement moyen des r\u00e9seaux de distribution d\u2019eau potable \u00e9valu\u00e9 pour l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2020 \u00e0 80,1 % n\u2019est pas satisfaisant, d\u2019autant plus que le rythme de recharge des nappes phr\u00e9atiques est relativement faible. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle \u00ab\u00a0France enti\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb, cela repr\u00e9sente 20 % du volume d\u2019eau potable perdu, soit sur cinq litres d\u2019eau distribu\u00e9s dans le r\u00e9seau, qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 capt\u00e9s et trait\u00e9s, un litre qui n\u2019arrive jamais jusqu\u2019au robinet du consommateur, du fait des fuites dans les r\u00e9seaux de canalisations qui tardent \u00e0 \u00eatre r\u00e9nov\u00e9s, s\u00e9curis\u00e9s ou remplac\u00e9s. Les Canalisateurs rappellent que des solutions existent pour mieux pr\u00e9server ce patrimoine, qui invisible, n\u2019en ait pas moins pr\u00e9cieux et se doit d\u2019\u00eatre transmis aux g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures. Il y a urgence \u00e0 investir pour les territoires en mati\u00e8re de r\u00e9seaux de mani\u00e8re curative et pr\u00e9ventive, pour r\u00e9duire enfin les fuites, diminuer ainsi les pr\u00e9l\u00e8vements sur le milieu aquatique naturel, \u00e9viter de gaspiller de l\u2019\u00e9nergie (pompage de l\u2019eau, traitement pour la rendre potable) et de consommer inutilement des produits pour le traitement. Qui plus est, l\u2019eau destin\u00e9e \u00e0 la consommation humaine provient de ressources de plus en plus difficiles \u00e0 exploiter, parce qu\u2019elles sont plus lointaines, plus pollu\u00e9es ou d\u00e9j\u00e0 tr\u00e8s sollicit\u00e9es. Les entreprises de canalisations mettent en \u0153uvre toute une panoplie de solutions pour renforcer la performance et la r\u00e9silience des r\u00e9seaux.
