Premier prix de Rome en 1945, il s\u00e9journe donc \u00e0 la Villa M\u00e9dicis puis \u00e0 Ath\u00e8nes pour ne revenir en France qu&rsquo;en 1950, trop tard, malheureusement, pour participer aux premiers grands chantiers de reconstruction du pays. Tout \u00e0 la fois h\u00e9ritier de la grande culture classique et \u00e9mule du Bauhaus et de Le Corbusier, il fait ses premi\u00e8res armes d&rsquo;architecte en travaillant sur un ensemble de 800 logements \u00e0 Strasbourg, ce qui l&rsquo;am\u00e8ne \u00e0 repenser la fa\u00e7on de produire les mat\u00e9riaux de construction en grandes s\u00e9ries. Cette exp\u00e9rience lui sera pr\u00e9cieuse lorsqu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;agira pour lui de r\u00e9aliser en 1951 un ensemble de logements pour le quartier g\u00e9n\u00e9ral des forces alli\u00e9es en Europe, \u00e0 Saint-Germain-en Laye, le Shape village, une r\u00e9alisation particuli\u00e8rement ambitieuse et repr\u00e9sentative de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque. Jean Dubuisson est l&rsquo;auteur de tr\u00e8s nombreux grands ensembles mais aussi du quartier Maine-Montparnasse et du mus\u00e9e national des Arts et traditions populaires. Il a d\u00fb souvent r\u00e9pondre aux n\u00e9cessit\u00e9s du temps, aux urgences impos\u00e9es par les destructions de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, au manque cruel de logements. Dans ce contexte tr\u00e8s difficile, propice aux solutions uniformes, il a su proposer des solutions originales et laisser une empreinte durable.
