Et pourtant, le Louxor est l\u0092un des rares exemples encore en place d\u0092architecture de style n\u00e9o-\u00ad\u00e9gyptien, qui fut d\u0092une beaut\u00e9 \u00e9tonnante. Inaugur\u00e9 le 6 octobre 1921, on le doit \u00e0 l\u0092architecte Henri-\u00adAndr\u00e9 \u00adZipcy, dont ce fut la seule \u009cuvre. On y pr\u00e9sentait alors des films muets mis en musique par un orchestre, entrecoup\u00e9s de num\u00e9ros de music-\u00adhall. Le succ\u00e8s fut tout de suite au rendez-\u00advous, et la grande capacit\u00e9 de l\u0092\u00e9tablissement \u0096 plus de 1000 places \u0096 suffisait \u00e0 peine \u00e0 satisfaire les spectateurs qui s\u0092y pressaient. Comme l\u0092a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 \u00adBertrand \u00adDelano\u00eb en avril 2010 lors de l\u0092annonce du projet de restauration,<br \/>\u00ab l\u0092originalit\u00e9 et le style de cette salle mythique enrichissent le patrimoine de notre ville. C\u0092est un fragment de l\u0092histoire culturelle de notre capitale \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\u201cfont-weight: bold;\u201c>Grandeur et d\u00e9cadence<\/span><br \/>En octobre 1981, la toiture et les fa\u00e7ades du Louxor furent inscrites \u00e0 l\u0092Inventaire suppl\u00e9mentaire des Monuments historiques. Mais c\u0092est l\u00e0 un exemple tristement probant du fait qu\u0092une reconnaissance patrimoniale parfaitement officielle ne suffit pas pour pr\u00e9server un b\u00e2timent de la d\u00e9ch\u00e9ance. Depuis 1954, l\u0092\u00e9tablissement appartenait \u00e0 \u00adPath\u00e9, qui le revend en 1983 \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Textile Diffusion. Les beaux jours sont loin. Entre 1983 et 1987, \u00e0 trois reprises, des bo\u00eetes de nuit tentent de s\u0092installer dans les lieux. Rien n\u0092aboutit. Le Louxor, abandonn\u00e9, n\u0092est plus alors qu\u0092un repaire glauque d\u0092individus peu recommandables. D\u0092ailleurs, d\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1970, le cin\u00e9ma \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 devenu un endroit plut\u00f4t louche. Il faut attendre 2003 pour que la municipalit\u00e9 de Paris le rach\u00e8te et envisage de mettre un terme \u00e0 cette descente aux enfers. Le permis de construire, cl\u00e9 de la renaissance de ce bel \u00e9difice si malmen\u00e9, a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9livr\u00e9 en janvier 2010.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\u201cfont-weight: bold;\u201c>Les travaux de restauration<\/span><br \/>Le projet ne consiste pas seulement en une restauration de certains \u00e9l\u00e9ments existants, mais bien en une r\u00e9habilitation compl\u00e8te qui implique un red\u00e9ploiement des espaces, le tout s\u0092inscrivant dans une volont\u00e9 de revalorisation du quartier par l\u0092apport d\u0092une offre culturelle novatrice. En ce qui concerne le sauvetage et la remise en valeur des parties patrimoniales, le chantier, plac\u00e9 sous la responsabilit\u00e9 de l\u0092architecte \u00adPhilippe \u00adPumain, va consister \u00e0 revivifier tous les d\u00e9cors int\u00e9rieurs peints, les motifs \u00e9gyptiens et les faux marbres. Notons que ces peintures avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 masqu\u00e9es par des th\u00e8mes n\u00e9o-\u00adgrecs dans les ann\u00e9es 1930, puis elles-\u00adm\u00eames encore transform\u00e9es vers 1950. On va donc se reporter \u00e0 l\u0092\u00e9tat d\u0092origine. Ces travaux se d\u00e9rouleront dans la grande salle, le porche, l\u0092escalier principal et le hall. \u00c0 l\u0092ext\u00e9rieur, sur les fa\u00e7ades, la t\u00e2che est encore plus importante : il s\u0092agit, apr\u00e8s nettoyage des surfaces, de restaurer les inscriptions et la peau en granito, les splendides mosa\u00efques, les grilles orn\u00e9es. Les vitraux des baies, qui avaient disparu, seront refaits. Les grands m\u00e2ts \u00e9vocateurs des temples antiques seront replant\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\u201cfont-weight: bold;\u201c>Le parti pris architectural<\/span><br \/>Pour la r\u00e9organisation des espaces int\u00e9rieurs, \u00adPhilippe \u00adPumain pr\u00e9voit la cr\u00e9ation de trois salles de cin\u00e9ma Art et Essai \u0096 dont la programmation sera vou\u00e9e aux \u00ab cin\u00e9mas du Sud \u00bb avec des cycles th\u00e9matiques et des reprises de festivals \u0096 ainsi qu\u0092une zone d\u0092exposition de 34m\u00b2 au premier \u00e9tage et une partie restauration de 35m\u00b2 avec terrasse. La grande salle, baptis\u00e9e du nom du fameux r\u00e9alisateur \u00e9gyptien \u00adYoussef \u00adChahine, aura une capacit\u00e9 de 342 si\u00e8ges. Notons que l\u0092\u00e9cran d\u0092origine sera conserv\u00e9 : il est peint \u00e0 m\u00eame le mur. La seconde salle pourra recevoir 140 spectateurs, et la troisi\u00e8me comportera 74 si\u00e8ges. Ces deux derni\u00e8res salles sont situ\u00e9es en sous-\u00adsol. La r\u00e9ouverture du Louxor au public est pr\u00e9vue pour le premier semestre 2013.\b<\/p>\n<p>S.
