Actuellement \u00e0 base d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments rares ou toxiques, de r\u00e9centes recherches ont permis l&rsquo;apparition de mat\u00e9riaux thermo\u00e9lectriques de deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (GEN2 TE), peu co\u00fbteux, car \u00e0 base d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments min\u00e9raux abondants sur Terre et respectueux de l\u2019environnement. Si le rendement de conversion \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique est faible, tout b\u00e9n\u00e9fice dans le processus de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration de l\u2019\u00e9nergie est bon \u00e0 prendre, lorsque la chaleur est perdue quoi qu\u2019il arrive, comme c\u2019est le cas dans les moteurs thermiques ou des industries \u00e0 haute intensit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique. Les mat\u00e9riaux GEN2 TE peuvent am\u00e9liorer l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique dans de larges pans de l\u2019industrie et de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 en convertissant la chaleur perdue en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet europ\u00e9en INTEGRAL, qui rassemble des experts de haut niveau, vise au d\u00e9veloppement de mat\u00e9riaux thermo\u00e9lectriques de deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, autour de trois cha\u00eenes de valeur : les automobiles, les v\u00e9hicules de transport et les capteurs autonomes dans les industries \u00e0 haute intensit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, par exemple la m\u00e9tallurgie ou la verrerie.
