Men\u00e9e sur prescription de la\u00a0Drac d\u2019\u00cele-de-France, cette fouille implant\u00e9e en plein c\u0153ur de ville, \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9glise paroissiale, offre l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 d\u2019appr\u00e9hender l\u2019\u00e9volution d\u2019un pan de ville fortifi\u00e9e du XIIIe si\u00e8cle \u00e0 nos jours. Sur 1 750 m\u00b2, les arch\u00e9ologues explorent un site au carrefour de l&rsquo;axe Paris-Orl\u00e9ans et de la voie reliant Corbeil \u00e0 Montlh\u00e9ry. Les vestiges arch\u00e9ologiques t\u00e9moignent d&rsquo;un habitat urbain dense (domestique, artisanal et commer\u00e7ant) mat\u00e9rialis\u00e9 par une succession de b\u00e2timents, de caves et de fosses (latrines, pressoir\u2026). Les nombreuses caves mises au jour sont autant de miroirs d\u2019une ville prosp\u00e8re en qu\u00eate de lieux de stockage. Seules t\u00e9moins d\u2019habitats aujourd\u2019hui disparus, elles offrent l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 de restituer l\u2019ancien paysage urbain de Montlh\u00e9ry.
